[00:00:00] Foreign.
[00:00:06] All right. So this morning we are going to talk about the promises of God.
[00:00:11] So many of us, we read this wonderful book called the Bible.
[00:00:16] Now don't look at mine, it looks like my art book.
[00:00:21] And we tend to say those promises were for the Israelites or those promises with very Old Testament people.
[00:00:27] Those promises are for the New Testament people. God was speaking to Paul or to Mark or to Matthew.
[00:00:36] And I really have many of you, many of us sitting and saying, when is this promise? Mine is it when a prophet comes and he says, thus says the Lord. This is the psalm I give over your life. Is that only when you take it as a promise?
[00:00:51] I say, no.
[00:00:53] So let this morning's teaching be very simple, practical. You know me, I love practical.
[00:00:59] In Romans 9:11, the Lord says, I raised you up for this very purpose. That I might display my power in you. And that you may.
[00:01:09] That you may. That my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. Sorry.
[00:01:16] God gives us promises so that his name may be proclaimed. All right. These promises does make our life more comfortable. Yes, but that's not why he gives them.
[00:01:26] He gives us promises so that we can testify about them. So that we can go out and say, do you know what the Lord did for me? And in that way, God's edified.
[00:01:36] So I told you this before. When I was a young, became a young. When I was a young woman, became a Christian, I was about 20.
[00:01:46] And my personal favorite lecturer, or what can I say, not a lecturer, she was my.
[00:01:56] She led me to the Lord was Liesel. And she taught me very practically to take paper post its.
[00:02:04] I don't have color ones now, you know, the ones with the glue.
[00:02:08] And then just write a promise of God on it, stick it to my cupboard or my mirror. And every day just read that promise out over my own life.
[00:02:20] So my room would have all the different colors of paper on it.
[00:02:25] And in later years, I left them there for years. I would just know where which one stands. I would know. This one is for confidence. This one is when I'm afraid. This one is when I'm going through hardship.
[00:02:38] And then I would just walk closer there and I would say, lord, your word says that your plan for me is to prosper, that you do not want to harm me, that you want to give me hope in the future. Lord, I take that word today over myself.
[00:02:55] Because nothing that you say will come back void to you on that origin.
[00:03:04] In Numbers 23, Verse 19, the word says God is not a human, that he should lie. Not a human.
[00:03:11] Human being that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act?
[00:03:16] Does he promise and not fulfill?
[00:03:19] I have received a command to bless. He has blessed and he cannot change it. Now get this. Jesus himself received the command from the Father to. To bless you. He received that command. He is not a man that he should lie. He cannot go back on his word and he needs to bless you. So if you don't activate those blessings, if you don't know those blessings, how is it going to happen? You won't even see it when it comes.
[00:03:47] So, my friend, today we are going to first and foremost, just listen to this again. Jesus himself received confidence command from the Father to bless you.
[00:03:58] Wow.
[00:03:59] Isn't that awesome?
[00:04:01] Now we're going to take the Old Testament and the New Testament, just a few, don't worry. Put them up on the screen as well.
[00:04:08] And we are just going to.
[00:04:09] We're going to clothe ourselves with those promises because we already understand that Jesus must. He's been commanded by the Father to bless us. What does those blessings look like?
[00:04:23] Isaiah 58, 11. The Lord will guide you always. He will satisfy your needs in a sun scorched land and will strengthen your frame. The promise is that God will provide for you and strengthen you even in dry and difficult times. Who cannot take that promise? I mean, really, what an awesome promise.
[00:04:42] Okay.
[00:04:44] Psalm 32. 8.
[00:04:46] I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my loving eye.
[00:04:52] You, the promise there is. You will. You are never without guidance. He personally leads you.
[00:04:58] All right, Once again, write that down on your little paper with the idea that this is what God needs to do. He needs to bless you. He wants to bless you.
[00:05:06] Put it up somewhere. Put it up in your kettle. Put it up in your fridge.
[00:05:10] Put it in your closet. I don't know where you should put it, but put it up somewhere.
[00:05:17] Deuteronomy 31, verse 6. 6. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them. For the Lord your God goes before you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Those are promises that God's given to you, not to the Old Testament people, to you. Listener, beloved, God's given you those promises. I need you to tie them around your heart. The Word speaks and he says, write them on my void. Don't literally do that, but the concept is say them so many times. Forget where it stands. We're not here to learn how to read the Bible in 31 days or where verses stand. I want to remind you of those promises.
[00:05:59] Isaiah 54:17 no weapon against me shall prosper, and every tongue will rise against me, and judgment shall be condemned. Make that your own. Make it your own. You need it today.
[00:06:14] Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope in the future.
[00:06:25] Exodus 33:14 My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest tonight. When you get into bed and you have insomnia, you say, lord, you said you will give me rest.
[00:06:38] So God, I'm reminding you of your promises.
[00:06:41] I'm reminding you that you are not a man, that you should lie. I'm taking that promise and I'm resting tonight.
[00:06:47] All right. That's how practical we do it.
[00:06:52] Isaiah 41:10 so do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.
[00:07:01] I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
[00:07:04] I'll give you some teaching on righteousness with the right hand and the olden times, but not now.
[00:07:13] Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged. The LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
[00:07:22] You go into that difficult meeting God, I'm not going to be discouraged. I'm not going to be dismayed, because you are right here with me.
[00:07:31] Healing and restoration Joel 2, verse 22 I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten. For anyone listening, that's a bit older. The enemy steals from us.
[00:07:44] No one gets away with not being ever stolen from by the enemy. And this God just promises you that he will give it back to you.
[00:07:54] He will restore the years that the locusts have stolen. And you know what God's blessing and restoration looks like?
[00:08:02] It normally blows your mind because it's double 700 fold. It's not what we can think. It's not, I lost the something, I got back something. It's I lost something. I was faithful and diligent and obedient and I got replaced. So many.
[00:08:19] So hold fast on that verse.
[00:08:23] Those are a lot. There's lots of lots of Old Testament ones. Let's go to the New Testament.
[00:08:30] John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Whoever believes, just believe. Believe with your heart. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is king and you will have eternal life. It's as easy as that. It's as easy as that these things I'm giving you now is not for you to go to heaven. It's for you to make your earthly life easier.
[00:08:55] But if you believe with your heart and confess with your mouth, there you go.
[00:08:59] Yes, of course we need to do things, start doing things right. But if God then came right now, there would be only one way for you, and it would be straight through the pearly gates.
[00:09:09] Romans 10:9. If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe it in your heart, you will be saved. That's the one I was just referring to.
[00:09:19] 2 Corinthians 5:17. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new is here.
[00:09:27] People, my beautiful beloved people, you need to believe that there is not something as a generational curse. When you have come to God, you are new.
[00:09:38] Corinthians says that you are a new creation. It's not a 2.0 or a taken and added a few things. And now you're better, you're new, which means the old has been totally wiped away.
[00:09:52] You are a new creation in Christ. And what does that new creation look like? It looks like Christ. We are formed in his image, and day by day we are trying to become more like him. So that new creation does not have sickness, it does not have anxiety, it does not have.
[00:10:11] It does not have. It does not have anything. It does not have anything your mother or your father used to have, or your brother or this one died at the early age with heartache. So now I have to be wary because a heartache, heart attack.
[00:10:25] Now I have to be worried because my brother died at 50. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus, and you need to put that onto yourself. That's a promise from God. So when fear comes and knocks on your door saying, hey, you're 50, your brother died of this, or your father died of this.
[00:10:40] I am a new creation in Christ. That is who I am.
[00:10:48] Romans 8:1. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Because through Jesus, the law of the Spirit, who gives life, has set you free from the law of sin and death.
[00:11:01] You are not condemned. You are free. Yes, you made mistakes.
[00:11:05] Yes, it was horrible mistakes.
[00:11:09] But now you are free and you need to believe it. And the people in your circle needs to believe it as well. Otherwise, find yourself other circles. I'm serious.
[00:11:18] At some stages, it's our friends holding us back. It's not God. God forgives and he moves on.
[00:11:26] And he takes your sin as far away as the east from The West.
[00:11:30] And there's a verse that says, he loves you so deep.
[00:11:33] There's nothing as deep and nothing as wide and nothing as powerful as the love of God. And the love of God forgives. And a lot of love of God restores and not restores halfly and keep on reminding you of your sin. He restores and he looks at Jesus when he looks at you.
[00:11:49] So if other people looks at you, they should see Jesus as well.
[00:11:54] Otherwise, really find yourself another circle of friends.
[00:12:02] Philippians 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Write that down, paste it somewhere.
[00:12:10] And when you open your eyes in the morning and you're like, I am going to do this exercise thing, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. When you go and make your first meal and you don't want to eat that white bread and you're trying to get away from that and into healthy living, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. When you put your kids up, get them up for school, and there's not enough bread in the house to feed all of them, and you have to look around for some stuff, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
[00:12:41] God will bless you and give you a creative mind so that you would be able to do those things. And may he also bless your wallet so that it overflows with money and with whatever you need to be able to raise your kids.
[00:12:56] John 14:27 Peace, I leave with you. My peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives.
[00:13:03] Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
[00:13:07] Peace I give you. Ask yourself today, am I at peace?
[00:13:12] If you sit and you think about it, do I have peace? If not, then you know you got something from the world.
[00:13:19] Stand up, shake it off, get out of that position and keep. Start making these promises over your own life. Lord, you say that you leave peace with me, not peace as the world leaves me.
[00:13:35] You give me peace, so I will not let my heart be troubled and I will not be afraid.
[00:13:41] And then you just believe that. It's as simple as that. If you have to say it a hundred times to yourself, do it. Write it out.
[00:13:50] Peace. He gives you peace. God doesn't come and give you thunderstorms in your heart.
[00:13:57] God is always constant. He's always loving, he's always good, and he always wants the best for you. God doesn't change. He's not a man. He cannot change. He cannot lie and he cannot say something and then turn around from it say, I did make this promise to you, but now you didn't listen. So no, no, now you will see that's not my God.
[00:14:16] You have to believe that. You have to believe that with all of your heart.
[00:14:21] Last one.
[00:14:24] Matthew 6, 31, 33.
[00:14:28] So do not worry saying, what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear, but seek first the kingdom of God.
[00:14:35] I want you again for a week to write these promises, even if you post them on this video in the comment section or post them on your own page and tag me.
[00:14:46] Please don't use this as an excuse to be on your cell phones.
[00:14:51] That's not what we're saying. But do it every morning. Write something. Post it on your WhatsApp status so that I can see it. It'll bless me a lot.
[00:15:00] But I want you to start speaking promises over your own life. If you have a wall or a prayer room, put them up there. I guarantee you they're not going to come down in the next year, so make them nice.
[00:15:11] Ask your kids to each write the promise. Put it up somewhere.
[00:15:15] Please do tag me or send me a picture. I would like to pray those promises over your life as well.
[00:15:22] And let's just start this whole campaign where we're just encouraging each other and where we become word believers, where we believe the promises. That's in this word. Color your Bible in. I don't care what you do with it, but believe the word. When you open this Bible in the morning and you read something, it should be like the breath of God just blowing it in your face, giving you that promise. My child, my beloved, do not be afraid. I'm right here with you. And just take that in. Sit like that for a moment and just be like, wow, God, I take this promise today. I take it because this is you speaking to me.
[00:15:59] This is God speaking to you.
[00:16:03] I love you. I hope this blessed you as much as it did me. And I'm looking forward to see your. Your. Your scriptures that you believe God is binding over your life right now. I love you. Bless.
